Boom goes the engine..

So something in my engine isn't right. Either head gasket or cracked head (praying to God it's the gasket) I have never done a head gasket on the 3.4 and all the links I'm finding that might show a good diy are dead. Hoping someone has a good link. Or should I just look for a low mileage 3.4? Mine has 320k and is supercharged. I'm sure once I pull the head I will find something else and it scares the shit out of me. Specially when I pretty much live paycheck to paycheck.
Reading some of the posts scares me also with people saying that they thought it was a gasket and the head was cracked. I can't afford downtime let alone ordering everything to do a head job just to find out I need to fork out x amount for a new head because mine is cracked.. how common is it?
If I decide to go forward with a head job anything else other then the obvious I should look at replacing/upgrading? Sofar I have tb/wp/injectors/knock sensor wires. Think that's about it.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

What is the motor doing?
Did you do any leakdown or compression test?

Where in WA are you located I might be able to lend a hand if needed.

Download yourself a FSM from this site (the online versions don't work): Toyota Tacoma 4Runner/ FJ Cruiser FSM Page

Interesting note in the FSM states that head warpage or cracking could result from removing the head bolts in an incorrect order. I wonder how many people ruin their heads just from removing them improperly.

Thanks.
I have done head jobs on other rigs. I know head removal is important and not just pull the bolts how you see fit and all that. I'm very confident in doing the job but worried how hard this will hit the wallet.

Loosing coolant, overheating, smoking out the tail pipe, exhaust gasses in overflow tank. Haven't pulled plugs to do a compression test yet to find out what side I need to be most worried about. Bg is where I'm at but don't know where I'll be doing the work at. Have a few different shops I can use.
