Borla Exhaust Questions

[LandRvr Convert]

I saw a 4Runner today with a dual Borla exhaust on it.

It was chrome and looked great. The exhaust tips came out under the rear quarter panels behind the back tires.

My question is this. Does it make the exhaust sound any different, and how much does it cost for this part?

its loud... if you do a search you'll find a sound clip of it. people have bought it for around 600-800.

Is the borla louder than the TRD?

The Borla is the TRD. They are the company that makes the TRD labeled exhaust systems- so save a few bucks and get the Borla...

I am not sure that is correct. I hear the TRD is made by bosal.

Maybe they (TRD) changed their vendor recently... My father's TRD exhaust on his Tundra ('05) was made by Borla

is the exhuast stamped with TRD or BORLA at the tips? I know that the trd exhaust and the borla dual exhaust have different designs... so i doubt that borla makes the trd exhaust.

if he got the exhaust with the truck at the dealer with a trd package, it doesn't necessarily mean that the exhaust is from TRD. It seems like a lot of dealers use the borla exhaust... take the 4runner x-sp for example.

Borla exhaust

I have the Borla exhaust on my 2006 with the V8 ,Dealer installed option ($800)and it was pretty loud inside the vehicle at 70-75 on the freeway. I added some additional sound material to the rear which did not help. I had my local muffler shop remove the front resonator and install an 18 inch straight thru Magaflow. I then had him cut the tips off which are small resonators and rerouted the exhaust out the back. I now have a very mellow sound which does not get annoying after a couple hours on the freeway. Hope this helps.

The tips are different but the piping is the same. He ordered through Toyota and we put it on ourselves.

does anyone know if Borla makes one for the v8 07 sport. I figure it would be the same than the 06 but it is not listed in their website. Thanks guys!

BORLA EXHAUST

I am sure the 06 Borla will fit the 07,as there has been no changes under the vehicle.I went to my dealers web site (Palm Toyota) and did a build your own for an 08 and the performance exhaust is still listed as an option.Hope this helps.

Right on....this is the motivation i was waiting for hehe. I will email them to try and confirm it before I order it but this is an inspiration to say the least because the only exhaust that says they have one for 07-08 is magnaflow. :bigok:

TRD exhaust

I've got the TRD-etched dual outlet (but really a single pipe with two outlets) system. Always had heard that it was manufactured by Borla, but don't have any evidence to confirm that.

The system had to be slightly modified to get it to fit, but I still have my spare and it looks good. It has a little drone at about 1700 rpm, especially in overdrive and a light foot on the gas pedal (corresponds to about 55-60 mph). Above that rpm and at higher highway speeds (65-70 mph), it's actually fairly quiet. When you tromp on the gas, the noise from the back is balanced by the noise from the front (the K&N intake)!
