Borla exhaust sound clips - '03 V8

I just had my Borla dual exhaust system installed on my '03 V8 4runner and took some sound clips. The quality is not great since they were taken with my digital camera, but you can get an idea of what it sounds like. Click on the links below...

Thanks for the post... I think I now need the system. (it use to be a want thing but now.)

Do you happen to have a clip with it under heavy acceleration? Just to compare how loud it can be.
 
On the second clip near the beginning is actually almost full throttle. It doesn't get much louder than that. I'll see if I can get some better clips though.

Actually, from inside the cabin, it's the loudest at around 2k rpm while lightly accelerating. It seems to resonate and slightly vibrate the interior around that rpm range for some reason. I'm not sure if that's normal or not, but it seems kinda strange to be that loud at that low of rpm.
 
No need... those are great clips. I put them through a graphic equalizer and watched it... and your right that at the lower rpms it does show the lowest freq's to be their highest levels.

Here's the noob question.....does Borla offer a system for the V6 model....or is it only available for the V8?
 
Borla Exhaust for the V6

I own a 03 4Runner Limited and I installed the Borla #140036 exhaust system last weekend. The same system fits both the V8 and the V6. You are only replacing the exhaust from the catalytic convert back so the one system fits both models. Easy to install yourself in about 1 hour. Hardest part was making sure the dual pipes looked straight and even from the back.

Sounds great on the V6 as well and it might even boost the HP a little but maybe that's just my imagination.
The system was quite pricey here in Canada. Got mine from the local performance shop (Final Lap) for $1250.00 (CDN). He told me it lists for $1400.00 and I am sure the local Toyota dealer would sell it for more.

I've been looking around on the internet for a Borla system like the one you've led me to. The best price I've found so far is around $750 or so.

Has anyone else been able to find a competitive price on one of these systems? I've heard rumors of a sub-$700 dealer, but I can't find one anywhere. Furthermore, I've had some trouble finding multiple dealers for 2003 4Runners at all. Thanks for any help!!
 
I got it from http://www.exhaustproslinc.com for $675 + $30 shipping (and no tax). They don't stock this particular model so they ordered it directly from Borla and Borla shipped it directly to my house and it only took 2 days from the day I placed the order. I'd highly recommend buying it from them if you decide to get it. I couldn't find it cheaper anywhere else.
 
I just emailed them asking for the price of that model. The person I spoke to was Angela. They don't have it listed on their website so you either have to email or call them.

Brian,

I noticed on your profile that you have a magnaflow exhaust system. I saw one for about $560 the other day on the internet. How do you like it???

I'm assuming it's the model that puts dual pipes off to the passenger's side of the car. Is the sound nice? Was it easy to install (bolt-on?)

Anything you can think of that spurred your decision would be most helpful.

Before I got the Borla, I was actually looking at getting that magnaflow cat-back exhaust from the performanceproducts.com website. I noticed that magnaflow didn't list a cat-back system for the '03 4runner on their website so I emailed them directly and they said they do not make a cat-back system for the 4runner. So, whatever that system is that they're selling, it's not entirely made by magnaflow (probably just the muffler is by magnaflow).
