Bottle Cutter Bottles

Finally got my bottle cutter. Now looking for suggestions on some cool round bottles to cut... beer and liquor or anything really.

This was the only beer in my fridge.

I know this is totally college days with the black lights, highlighters and liquor bottles glowing on the shelves along with shot glasses.

But just thought I would make a couple of sets for myself and make some gifts for friends.

What bottles would you make glasses out of?

depends on what people like to drink...those Coors bottles would be cool, Red Stripe, doesn't Heineken have cool bottles....?

Can you round out the edges? They look sharpish...?

I just quickly went over with sand paper to get the 'sharpness' out but I am going to sand it down a bit more.

I think the corona bottles are kinda cool with the printed stuff on it instead of the stickers.

I agree... printed on bottles would be much better, especially after a couple of washes.

I suppose it could. I need to buy a blowtorch as it is (need to fix a copper pipe) so I could try it out. Thanks.

Put them in my cabinet and when I am thirsty get one out, fill it with desired beverage and drink out of it. Also, they make good gifts as well.

My parents are big wine drinkers so I want to make my mom something out of a wine bottle. Not sure what yet... but something.

It's a novelty thing at best.

This guy has a pretty cool idea for finishing the edge of the bottles. Never tried it myself, but sounds like you might be able to come up with a nice smooth rim.

That's a good tip on rounding the edges off. Sometimes the simple methods never come to mind.

This was pretty popular when I was a little kid waaay back in the 70s. My uncle had one and we all got a set in our favorite drink. Is it still the device where u score it on the inside and then tap it around till it breaks? My uncle used a bench mounted belt sander to bevel the edges. I think it's really cool...

careful with this. reheating glass tends to make it extremely brittle. Sanding is a better option.

Yeah, I score the outside of the bottle. I then fill my measuring cup with water and put it in the microwave for 2 mins. Then have the sink on with cold running water. Pour hot water over score line, then under cold water and back and forth until the bottle comes apart.

I was expecting it to be a little intense when separating the bottle but it literally just came apart at the score line. No popping or cracking or exploding, which is what I was expecting.

I just saw last night some guy was cutting old wine bottles and making candles in them. This might be the next new thing eh?
