Bought '05 V8 Sport getting delivered today

I finally found my new 4th Gen, after searching for a week or so which wasn't too bad. I did buy/order it from a dealer, and they'll be delivering hopefully by 3pm today.

Mods aren't far behind:
GTA Audio Kit
Replace XREAS with FJ Coils and Bilsteins

Still need to research the cheaper mods

Congrats! I picked up my '07 V8 Sport from a dealer a couple of months ago as well. First thing I did was proactively install the AIP "fix". [MENTION=8828]slyfox75[/MENTION] sells a DIY kit, or there's a more expensive PnP kit on eBay as well. I'd consider doing that as one of your first mods if not already on the to-do list....cheap insurance on a costly failure.

This is my 2nd 4Runner, I can't wait!.

We have had a '97 4Runner, an '08 Sequoia, and the '08 Tacoma I just sold last Friday. Great vehicles!

I just sold my '97 4Runner (SR5 5-speed) yesterday. While I'm really liking the "new" '07 V8 Sport, I wish I could have kept them both!

Wish they made the v8 for the 3rd gen :/ but I kind of like the 4th gen look. Congrats though v8 is a beast. :yo:
 
I still do the kits fellas. Others are available from commercial sites as well for a premium. The V8 WILL have the AIP issue(2005+)......just a matter of time. Do it BEFORE its an issue and your life will be much better......multiple posts from people waiting to late and having to do more work and headache after the fact.

Is this not an issue on 2003 and 2004 V8s?
 
Congrats on the 2005 V8.

I have one myself. 2005 Sport Edition V8 4x4. Stratosphere Mica I believe is the name of the exterior color. My only regret is not getting this 4Runner sooner.

What exactly does it do? Your kit I mean.. how does it keep the air pump from going out, or does it? Should I replace the filter before it damages the pump?
 
multiple threads about this.... but quick n dirty is the AIP system is only turned on by the ECU when ambient air temp at startup is OVER 41F AND coolant temp is UNDER 104F. (basically first startup after long rest on average day)

SO......the bypass tricks the ECU into thinking it is less than 41F for the first couple secs as the starter is engaged. Once the truck is started the bypass turns off and the correct/actual ambient air temp is sent to ECU for proper fuel/air mix.

There is no filter.

I need to do this. Just had the AIP repaired last sept. But eventually it'll fail again
