Bought 18" Limited Wheels & Tires!!!!

I bought brand new graphite metallic 18" wheels that are found on the new '06 limiited from OEMRIMS and 265/60R18 BFG Radial Long Trail T/A Tires from TireRack.com. I payed $880 shipped for the wheels and $440 shipped for the tires. Even though the BFG's aren't the best tire around, they have pretty good reviews on tirerack and my buddy who owns a Chevy blazer and he loves them. Plus, tirerack has a special going on right now, $89/tire.

I've seen SOOO many Sport Edition 4Runners around CO that I am starting to feel like I need to step it up a notch to stand out amongst the growing population of 4Runners. I think the wheels will look awesome with my color and set me apart from other 4Runners on the road.

Well, I can't wait to get them and install them. In the mean time I guess I have 4 17" SE wheels complete with the stock Dunlops for sale, EXCELLENT condition, hand cleaned after every wash with 8000 miles. PM me if you are interested....

I actually emailed them asking if they'd ship them for $600, and all I got was a terse, "SORRY, NO NEGOTIATIONS" email back. But after I thought about it, $220/wheel to my door was too hard to pass up, especially after I found the cheap tires...

Still way cheaper than the stealership, they probably would've charged you at least $500 per wheel.

Definately. Not sure about the 4R's 18"s but, it would be very close. Retail for my 16" Camry wheel was $400, I was planning on replacing them with a set of 17"s take-offs from a Solara (off eBay for $600 with tires) when a tire blew out and gouged the rim. The price OUTRNNR got was better than cost price for my replacement, $225 through a friend of mine at the parts counter. I will definately consider this option for a set winter tires.
 
SO, is the ride different? Does it handle better?

Sorry I wasn't clearer in my first post. I just bought them yesterday. They won't be here until next week, I probably won't have them on until next friday 1/27/06.

I'll take pictures and comment on everything else then.
 
Awsome, post some pics up when you get them in. It will be nice seeing another SE with 18"s.

I was able to buy my 18" TRD rims for $867 shipped, w/ Michelin Cross Terrains and balanced with the sticker type counter weights. Talk about a deal.

Good luck, and make sure they do a good job of balancing your rims. Make sure they keep those ugly lead counterweights away from the outer edge.

Yeah, I read your post while I was considering buying these wheels yesterday, I wanted to know how the 18's looked (that is one awesome deal). I was thinking hard about the Michelin XTerrain 275/55R18 but when I saw the deal on the BFG's I couldn't pass it up. I'll probably lift somewhere down the road then I'll throw on some 285/65's.
 
Can't wait to see pics, especially since we have identical 4Runners. I was actually driving next to an '06 Limited in Galactic Gray yesterday and I couldn't help but think how good those wheels looked with our color. :cool:
 
There must be no demand for the 18" Michelins as they can be had at $123 from Tirerack. I'm thinking of picking up a spare just for the heck of it.
 
Update:

I have both the wheels and tires in my possesion and plan to have them mounted, balanced and on the runner friday morning. Pics to follow then.

Doh! I was scrolling down the thread frantically and was thinking "he got them on! he got them on!" and was expecting a new pic. Guess have to wait a bit longer... :(
 
OK, I got them on this morning, gave it a quick wash, and here are some pictures from around the Centennial/Parker area near where I grew up.

I think the wheels look awesome. The wheel/tire combo keeps the stock rolling diameter so I kept the spare and only bought 4 wheels. They aren't as dark as I thought they would be for some reason, but they still look sweet.

As far as ride goes, its a little firmer but not stiff, the road noise is a hair louder with the BFG's. I couldn't tell any difference in acceleration or braking, they feel the same. Handling, however, is night and day. The stiffer lower profile tire really helps for a quicker turn in (compared to the Dunlops) and long sweepers feel more crisp in the steering wheel.
