Hey all, so I found a used ARB bumper locally. Seller described it as mint, but when I showed up, it quite obviously wasn't as you'll see in the pictures. I decided to grab it anyways and fix it up myself. You never see these things around, and I payed $375 for it. Keep in mind it costs $1200 minimum for a new ARB taco bumper in Canada.
I know someone on this forum repaired an ARB they pulled off a totaled 4runner. Can't recall who it is, but I remember it being pretty darn twisted up and the end result looking great. Any suggestions or explanation as to how it was done would be very very appreciated.
Biggest problem is that no hardware came with it at all. Do any of you know if ARB sells the mounting hardware seperately? Or would you recommend just sourcing it myself.
My plan is to first straighten out the right side of the bumper. That's pretty much the only place where there are dents and wrinkles in the metal. The corner in particular is pretty wrinkled. The center looks like someone ran into a short cement pole or something.
After that I'm gonna sandblast the whole thing. That way I can get rid of all the scratched up paint and more importantly the rust. After that I'm probably gonna treat it with some Acid solution to make sure all the rust is long gone. Finally finishing with some Herculiner. Would you guys suggest Rustoleum underneath, or just straight liner to steel?
Any suggestions and ideas are appreciated, super excited to start working on it and get it where I want.
