Bought a stock 2001 Sport two weeks ago and...

Thanks guys. I'm super happy with it.

What's the backspacing on your ProComp's? There was another thread with someone who just got those same wheels with 4" backspacing, and they seems to stick out a bit further than yours. I have a Sport edition as well, and real close to pulling the trigger on the wheels.

They're the same. 4" backspacing. Was theirs on one without the bigger flares? It pushes them out to the edge of the flare but not a bit over. I think it's perfect.

Looks great, one of my fav tube bumpers. Do you get much light out of those fogs though? Seems like going with smaller units that can cast their whole beam would be more efficient.

A ton. They're actually the plasma ion driving lights and they are great.

Thanks. I like the looks of the bars too. I must admit though that I like the full roof basket look better, but they don't work with surfboards.

Yeah. Sometimes you just have to make compromises. This is the first auto I've ever owned. It's been a serious adjustment process, but I was looking for super low miles and wanted as new of a 3rd gen as I could find. Was willing to make the compromise.

But I got a great deal. Original owner, 53k miles and everything I was looking for. $11k. Took me forever to find. Picky can be good, but can be a pain in the arse sometimes too. I think the hardest part was I wanted a sport, but I didn't want leather. Seemed like most people upgraded.

Sweet truck Hepar!! Mine's just like your's, with the exception that mine doesn't have the roof rack or running boards. I'm not very knowledgable regarding the minor discrepancies between the different packages, but it seems like every SR5 i've seen has the rack and boards on it. You seem to be very knowledgable about these sort of things, was that an option on the SR5, or do I have some sort of strange hybrid of some sort?

I checked the sticker in the drivers side door to see if it made any mention of it being an SR5 trim package, but didn't see anything that confirmed/denied one way or the other. It does confirm its an 01', but it also says that it has 225/75/r15 tires, which doesn't make sense because it has 265/70/r16's just like yours.

Any info you could pass along my way would be great.

EDIT: I bought the truck from a friend of mine who works at a local dealership, and they had it on consignment from a guy in the airforce who was being transferred to Germany. To the best of my knowledge he was the original owner and there's no evidence that it ever had any boards/rack/or rear window spoiler that I often see on other SR5's.

Wow, thats alot of great info. Thanks Hepar.

No real crazy mods in the works yet. Although I can see how this can get out of control real quick. I set out today to pick up a set up of mud flaps for the front (even with the fender flares the sides of the truck seem to take a beating when the snow/salt/sand turns to that funky mush). Needless to say after a few hours of fooling with everything, I decided that they would look better mounted behind/underneath the flares, so right now the drivers side of my truck has holes in it.

And now i'm thinking I could probably put up with a little dirt down the sides... if I had 33's

Thanks. Shooting on a Nikon D700 with a 24-70mm f2.8. Haven' taken any real serious pics of the 4Runner, more just quick update shots. Hopefully soon.
