I'm sure it's a little more work w/having to get the legs welded to the plates, to the sliders, etc. But you'll be very happy you did. I can't stop going in the garage to look at mine.

I actually picked up a can of Hammered (for the finish coat) and some non-slip tape for the top edges today. I just looked at your page and noticed you used the same. How do you like it?

The hammered finish Rustoleum is good stuff. I only gave it 18 hours drying time before the install, and we dropped those dam things off the side of the frame a couple times each. It barely chipped/scratched in a couple places.

I still have to hit the legs where I masked them off for the welding. It rained on Sunday and i didn't want rust, so the truck's been sitting in the garage since Saturday. Once I hit the legs and touch them up, I'll give it the recommended 48 hours to dry, then throw on the grip tape.

Long story short, I guess I don't have a real opinion yet.

And Quicksilvr... yes... yes it is.

Well, I painted mine with about 4 coats of the flat black first. They've had about two months to dry...

[but was unable to confirm with speedy just how he shaped them so that they conformed to the fender flare sans the running boards. Any chance you could help me out with some specifics? Pics of channel on back side of flap? thanks..

Here's the pic:

If I had to do it over, I would just make the first groove cut and instead of making the second lower cut (to make it over the pinch weld) I would have just cut a vertical notch. It would have made it look a lot cleaner. Does that make sense?

Truck looks great! Do you have a pic that shows the truck from the side, and a bit to the rear, so you can see both mudflaps clearly? I'm trying to see what mine would look like with a black mudflap like yours on the front, and body colored on the back. My rear mudflaps don't have the lower black trim like yours.

I thought I was gonna have to ditch the front mudflap idea, but now that I took the pinch welds and the fender liners in there's a lot more room and I think the're gonna work out after all.

Your truck looks like it's almost as dirty as mine... not like muddy dirty, but that thin layer of stuck on dust over the entire vehicle. It's looking good though, I like the Hilux Surf SSR-G badging on there.

BTW, what is that sticker on your driver's side rear window? It looks like a praying mantis!

Ha. It's actually pretty clean. I think it's just the combo of cell phone pic and the fact that we're on 41 days (and counting) of cloudy weather.
