Bought April 1st, my 1998 4x4 LTD, Locker

Bought it last week, and so far I really like it.
My plan is to keep it as my camping/hiking vehicle.

Does needs some TLC, this is what I have bought so far:

NKG plugs & wires
K&N Air filter
K&N Oil filter n Mobile1 Full Synthetic
Tranny Cooler as advised here (D&E), no milk shake yet, but I just might get a new OEM radiator too
Timing Belt kit from Amazon (it has water pump, thermostat, pullies n other 3 belts too)
Need to clean Throttle body/MAF

Also will do the following.
Coolant Flush
Tranny Drain & Fill
Diff drain & fill
Power Steering fluid flush

Also looking for OEM rotors & pads

What did I miss?

That has to be my favorite color. I really wish they had made them for the 99-00's. It would have been my dream 4runner. Unfortunately I have noticed they oxidize really easy if not taken care of. Looks good though.
 
Thanks guys, I really like the color, for some reason ATL has an abundance of Green ones.

^So what plugs are recommended for these trucks, I still have not opened mine up, btw got a killer deal with the "BIG35" coupon code on advance auto site ($35 of $85, I think it is still valid?

Nice find, I love that color too.

For plugs, you just need to make sure to get dual electrode plugs. These engines are "wasted spark", so they spark 2x as much as a normal engine will, which will wear out a single electrode plug super fast. NGK makes good dual electrode plugs. Search here and you will find mention of the part number.

You have a pretty good list. Remember to do to fluid in both diffs and the transfer case (same oil in all 3). You could seafoam the engine, always a good idea.

It looks like your back end is sagging a bit. Was it loaded down, or are your rear coils shot?

Who said that? All 3G V6's had 3 NGK's and 3 Denso's from the factory and they are OEM spec, although Toyota sells just the Densos. I've been using NGK's for 100K (since 30K change) and they are fine. Bosch are the plugs that cause problems.

Yup, definitely the best color they came in.

And Im jealous of how good the paint on that hood still is. Most Anthracites I see have faded hoods, and my hood looks horrible...
 
Progress on the work

Hi Guys,

Sorry for the late update, my honda got hail n water damage in the storm, been busy with it.....but not complaining considering what other went through

Here is what I have done to the 4runner so far

Tranny Drain n Fill (see pic in plastic glass), it was light brown and no burned smell

Reaf diff, T case drain n fill (see plug pic, n pic of oil with little metal spoon, a little low but still light brown, no burned smell)(the front drain plug is stuck, I have topped it off and will take to the dealership

Air Filter, Spectra RS7626
Cleaned MAF (although the little wires still looked white)
Cleaned Throttle Body, there was decent carbon buildup, forgot to take pic

Radiator Flush n fill with Toyota antifreeze, has some green stuff now
PS flush
Tundra Brake Upgrade
front Axels
Timing Belt n Water Pump n pullies
Rust on the under carriage (thinking off sand blasting or wire wheel)
Headunit

Stuff not so immediate
Seat n interior leather repair/reconditioning
Carpet

All my weekends are spent on the 4runner these day, any ATL mod days coming up, or how many cases of beer n pizzas does it take for some ATL 4runner enthusiast to help me:)
 
^ Thanks, I bought the truck with 189K miles so it needed some attention, and I figured the sooner I do it the less anxious I will be about the internals. Happy to report that after this weekend's tuneup the truck is running much smoother

Also, I want to start using it for for my outdoor activities too, its so nice over the weekends now and the pollen is also minimal....
