Boycott tv show "wheels that fail"!!!

since this first show started on Spike TV about 1 month ago it has been pretty entertaining.

this past Saturdays show was disturbing and pretty disgusting to say the least. I am pretty easy going and do not fall into all this BS happening these days. But this took the cake.

IIRC about 1 year ago a mentally challenged woman drover her and her 2 or 3 kids into the ocean in their Honda Odyssey. She tried to kill her and her kids. there were many bystanders trying to help get the kids out of the van.
this show added it to their lineup and made fun of the video saying that more or less they were aliens and they were trying to come onto land.

I do not think that is funny. if that was my family I would be unbelievably pissed.

IIRC you're talking about Susan Smith who was mentally ill and rightfully imprisoned for murdering her kids. The show should be ashamed of themselves for attempting to find humor in mental illness and the murder of children.

Yeah, I remember the woman who tried to drown her kids. I think it was near Myrtle Beach. Anyway, she was found to be mentally ill. Her kids will be grown and watching TV on their own before you know it and they don't need to see their near homicides ridiculed on TV. I have a feeling I'd boycott that show anyway.

People still watch SpikeTV? I remember back when it was called TNN. That entire channel turned into series of reruns of crap shows about seven years ago. Wheels That Fail sounds like another crappy series on there. Either way, what you mentioned sounds pretty cold-hearted.

Yeah, I remember that one too. What a sad commentary when we can confuse which case it was.

It is on Velocity, not Spike. The only thing I DVR on Spike is Bellator, Bar Rescue, and Catch a Contractor.

Not that I am supporting the show for what they did, I mean it is a bit crass in my opinion to make light of such a situation, particularly by trying to pass it off as if it were a humorous accident rather than a mentally ill woman committing a crime.

But how is this different from any other news outlet, TV show, movie, Politician, and Joe Shmo making fun of mental illness and/or mis-representing the facts?

As someone who has both severe depression and Asperger's I find the whole world likes to use people like me [mentally ill] as the punch line of their joke or the scapegoat in their argument. You can't flip through the news without Fox or CBS or CNN trying to make us look like lepers that no one should bother helping and just lock up or TV sitcoms making fun of us (although I absolutely relate to and find Sheldon Cooper to be hilarious and a good poster child for Asperger's)

Again, I don't agree with what the show did; but unfortunately it does seem to fall under the 1st Amendment it would seem? How is it any different than the news and media taking advantage and twisting the narrative of things like shootings, mass murders, ect. and politicians using such video clips as their war banner? I am regularly insulted by most of the world's double standard when it comes to the mentally ill; but I don't see that ever changing, after all we are "different" in their eyes. Which by virtue means we will never be treated appropriately. Its part of the horrible mental health problem this country has that it won't face, even when these people end up hurting/killing many others as a result of their untreated illness.

It sucks, but that's how the world is to the mentally ill; I think if we're gonna start boycotting no-name shows for this stuff we need to start boycotting FOX, CBS, and all the politicians who twist the stories just like this show did...

Anyway, the world is kind of a cesspool. Crass, crap entertainment for the lowest common denominator, is pretty much the norm anymore.

I do my share to not support the garbage, by watching as little TV as possible.
