Brake advice needed

Hello everyone,

I replaced all four pads when I had 54,302 on my truck about two years ago. I am at 76,000 now and my rear pads are almost metal to metal! I do a lot of city driving. I bought my pads from the dealer . I have heard Toyota has some cheaper pads. Maybe they sold me the cheaper ones? I have the following part numbers:
04465-60320
04466-60140

Are these the right ones? I want pads to last a bit longer than these

Yes, Toyota has lower priced pads that you will get if you just walk in off the street and ask for pads. Why would they do this when they also stock the better / original pads? Because the original ones (that last longer) are more expensive (big surprise), and people complained. If you ask your friendly local Toyota Parts Counter guy or girl for the good ones, they will be happy to get you a set.

Those are the correct numbers for the OEM pads. The budget line of parts have AZ or TM in the number.

Are you a left foot brake person? I ask only because I see left foot brake drivers every day. Hopefully, you aren't

Is the Emer brake set too tight? Stuck or dragging? I don't think these are auto adjusting. After you've been driving check the wheels to see if they are hot or warmer than normal. Maybe stuck calipers?

Thanks for the info. Funny that they didnt have them in stock! They ordered them for me. I bet they had the cheap ones in stock like last time

I will check them once I get my pads for replacement.

Outstanding brake compound. I didn't measure but almost certain my stopping distance is half of the OEM pads. One minus - more dust.

Pro - Much better stopping power.

Con - More break dust and shorter life span.

Did you pull your caliper pins, clean and then regrease them? They should slide freely. When people don't do this the pad will drag and wear faster. It is often overlooked.

Thanks for the feedback on the TRD pads. I'm quite pleased with my OEM pads for now. Of course I still have OEM tire sizes, and don't tow much. Good to know there is room for improvement.

Assuming your driving habits have not changed and your front pads are OK, there is probably a mechanical reason for the 50% pad life loss. Check for calipers sticking, replace fluid, check for twisted brake lines, etc.

Pads will make no difference in stopping distances - any pad can easily lock up the wheels. What determines stopping distance is grip. Non-OE pads may offer better feel, bite, or high temp performance(i.e. track, where you would never take a 4runner), but all will be at the expense of life/dust/noise.
