Brake booster differences

Driving my 2000 Limited vs a 2002, I noticed a huge difference in brake pedal response. The 2002 was super touchy (in a good way) and grabbed early, while my 2000 takes nearly concaving the floor with the brake pedal before it decides that it wants to get strong. I did the TBU, flushed and bled the lines, but ot never changed the feel. However, after driving another pre 2001, I noticed that it had a very similar feel to my truck.

So goes my question: is there a considerable difference in the brake setup between pre and post 2001 3rd gens? If so, is swapping to the more modern setup a reasonable upgrade, has it been done, and is it more than a "day job?"

I think the 01s & 02s get an electric hydroboost setup.

With that fancy electric pump under the hood that is quite pricey.

I am on my phone so cannot readily post a pic, but based on that am happy with my conventional brake setup.

Someone else will have to answer in more detail, but the 01/02 brakes are hydraulically boosted and it has a 4-channel ABS system with traction control. I would bet any swapping would be quite difficult.

It may be worth considering getting a new brake booster to try before considering any type of swapping to the newer style.
