Brake Booster install

Installing my new booster last night (picture attached). Not a problem on the install but the booster rod was not set properly and is too far out. This should be set to zero clearance. I am using the old one to figure out how to adjust before i ding up the new booster and am not sure how i can adjust inward. Someone told me today just to use a 7mm wrench...push in while screwing inward and it will hit a stop point and allow me to screw it inward. Does anyone have any experience with this. Couple others have said...never have had to adjust them...but this one needs adjustment.

3. ADJUST LENGTH OF BOOSTER PUSH ROD
(a) Set the SST on the master cylinder, and lower the pin until
its tip slightly touches the piston.

(b) Turn the SST upside down, and set it on the booster.

(c) Measure the clearance between the booster push rod
and pin head (SST).
Clearance: 0 mm (0 in.)
(d) Using SST, adjust the booster push rod length until the
push rod lightly touches the pin head.

4. INSTALL MASTER CYLINDER (See page BR–19)
5. FILL BRAKE RESERVOIR WITH BRAKE FLUID AND
BLEED BRAKE SYSTEM (See page BR–4)
6. CHECK FOR FLUID LEAKAGE
7. CHECK AND ADJUST BRAKE PEDAL
(See page BR–6)
8. DO OPERATIONAL CHECK (See page BR–20)

Basically , The rod should just touch the master cylinder.

Use some pliers and wrench. If it doesn't adjust far enough, return and get another one.

i am going to return it. Although I was told that someone must push the brake pedal while you are trying to adjust it. i was able to find a TOYO Booster with only 94k on it for $100. this included the master cylinder too. A lot less than $380.
