Anyone had a problem with your front calipers making a clicking noise when you step on the brakes???it sounds as if a pistons in the caliper is stuck and when it clicks it seems to break free,from time to time a get a shimmy when i come to a stop like my rotors are bad then other times it stops with no shimmy at all my 4runner is a 2004 bought by me brand new and has 42k with the factory brakes on it all the way around...could the calipers be bad or something else,please help for i am taking it into the dealer monday and would like to have a good ideal what i am talking about,also i do have the 100k protection...thxs

same pistons stopped retracting on my rig....just had to replace both calipers on my truck at 90,000 miles. grrr

The most common cause for a click type noise is the pads too loose in the caliper, and moving when brake is applied, and making a noise when they hit the stop. I would suggest taking a close look at the pads in the caliper, and check to see that the tension spring clips are installed. It is possible that the previous owner did, or had the brakes replaced, and the clips were not replaced. If the clips are not there, the pads can move slightly in the caliper, which can cause the type of noise you are hearing.
