2005 V8 Sport w/ tow package

I am wiring in a Tekonsha Prodigy controller that has 4 leads and the factory harness has 5 leads.

Anyone know what is the solid green wire for on the factory plug does?

The one in question is labeled "Green: Headlamp switch to vehicle tail lamps" but doesn't the trailer already get power for lighting from the hitch plug?

Bergs; I will need to go and crawl under the dash of my rigs (both Toyotas) and see what is what but I know that I had a wire that did not get connected in my 2004 Tundra. There was a adapter that connected your brake controller to the vehicle wiring harness. That adapter had the 5 wires but one was not needed and just taped off. Sorry for lack of clarity its just been a few years since I wired it in and I can't recall the exact details. Will repost once I get a chance to check it out if someone with more experience doesn't chime in first.

Solid green wire is always used for ground connection, but this seems to be labeled differently, so I can't be much more help than that.

I understand that it's a ground wire. Keep in mind the wire in question is located on the Toyota factory plug.

I'm trying to figure out if the description as written in the 1st post is poor translation from Japanese to 'merican English or if this is some random ground wire for some other application that does not apply to me.

Haven't had any luck when searching online so I'm hoping the answer will come up here.

Can't tell you exactly what it does, however I didn't connect that wire when installing my Prodigy P2 and everything works just fine (brakes, running lights, turn/brake signals, etc). Old brake controller on the F250 only has 4 wires too. Not sure why a brake controller would need that 5th wire.

Eff it.

I've decided to hook up the 4 wires I know will work and just wrap the 5th wire away. Nothing has come up to indicate I should do otherwise and it's only a ground wire so that pretty much settles it for me.
