With close to 160,000 miles on my car, I'm wondering if I need to replace the brake shoes in my rear brakes for my 2000 4Runner. I took the rear wheels off and could not for the life of me, remove the brake drums. I didn't see any clips or anything holding the brake drums in. I hit the shoulder several times with a rubber hammer and that didn't do it.
How do I remove the brake drums? Or if there is a way to inspect the shoes without having to remove the drums, let me know how. I didn't see any way to actually look in to the brake assembly.
