Brake Dust Accumulation on 2003

I have a 2003 v8 sr5 and it has just rolled over 86,000 miles, and I notice my front tires accumulate a large amount of brake dust. In just about 1 week and it just keeps growing. What could that be? Or is it just the nature of the vehicle. Also my a/c light is flickering and sometimes it blinks and sometimes it doesn't. I believe it is the a/c clutch relay but i do not know. Sorry if there is thread like this already. I thank you for the responses in advance!

The A/C light in all probability is from low freon. Some '03's had a TSB on a relay that caused the light flash too. The brake dust... Did you recently change the pads and this is a new condition? Are the CV boots starting to sling grease causing the rims to get nasty?

When you start accumilating brake dust on your wheels it means your brakes are actually going out! Can't remember where I learned this but that's what I was told and have been using as a guide. Works for me!

This has been an ongoing problem since I have purchased the vehicle in March of 2009. It just contiuously gets worse and if gets wet by rain it leaks on to driveway. Parents had enough of it and say i need to get it fixed. Just trying to estimate a repair. CV boots are actually slinging grease cause the rims are terrible looking.

Brake dust is probably from cheap pads and/or rotors. OEM's don't make too much dust.

When you start accumilating brake dust on your wheels it means your brakes are actually going out! Can't remember where I learned this but that's what I was told and have been using as a guide. Works for me!

You'd better not ever buy a Ford...you'd be replacing your pads every other week or so. They don't come with dust shields from the factory and the front wheels get pretty dirty.

As for that being a wear indicator....I wouldn't really rely on that. It's best to inspect the pads or use pads that have wear indicators.

Expensive pads can also produce a lot of dust....it really just depends on the compound. EBC pads are some of the best I've used and they produce quite a bit of dust.
