Brake light issues

Driving home tonight behind my wife driving my 3rd gen I noticed that the brake lights on the tails don't work. The regular tail lights are on and work. 3rd brake light works. Just no illumination when brakes are applied from either side.

I checked the fuse: good. I checked the bulbs: good. Can't be the brake pedal sensor because the 3rd brake light works. Right?

What else could it be?

I had a problem very similar to that and it was the trailer harness that someone installed broke the ground to the light. but it was only one side.

get your powerprobe out and test the circuit

Thanks. I ended up taking it in because I wont have the time to look into in the next several weeks. Turns out it was the socket for the bulbs had corrosion in it causing the bulbs to lose connection. SO they replaced the sockets and the bulbs and I am good to go.
