Brake Light on after bleeding

I just finished bleeding my brakes and went to start the runner and the brake light on the dash stays on. I disconnected the battery and tried it again with no luck. The level is full after I got clear fluid from all four brakes.

Has anybody else ran into this? Any advice would be appreciated.

So you flushed old fluid? or just bled out air? Did you let the reservoir go dry?
What year is your truck?

I'm changng rotors/pads and flushing this weekend. Interested to hear what the issue may be.

Sorry it's been a long day.

It's 98 and I flushed the old brake fluid out. First I sucked as much of the old fluid out of the master cylinder and added new.

Then I pressurized the master cylinder and first pushed the old fluid out of the rear pass brake then the rear drivers. Then I did the front pass and front drivers. Checking and filling the master when it was getting low. I never let it get completely empty.

Can you fit a little more brake fluid in the master cylinder resevoir? If so, do it and see if the light goes out.

It's up to the max line but i suppose you could put a little amount more in there.

Well, it could be the parking break switch too. Have you ruled that out? I know it would be a weird coincidence, but it is possible. Try engaging and disengaging the parking break a few times. You might also have to check the switch if that doesn't help...

I tried that too. Pulled the e-brake many times. I took it out a drove it with light on and it stops normal and seems fine just the annoyoing light is on. Maybe I'll have to bleed them all again. I didn't take too long to do maybe 45 min.

Hmm....strange. If the brakes feel good and they aren't spongy, then I'm sure you did a good job bleeding them. And if that's the case, it shouldn't have any effect that would cause the brake light to come on. I dunno....not sure what could be the problem if it's not the switch itself.

That's why its puzzling me. Nothing out of the ordinary. Didn't even make a mess doing it! That's what the problem is I didn't spill brake fluid all over the garage floor. haha

GOT IT!!!!! It was up to the max line but I filled it up even more, started it up and pumped the brakes and off it went. Thank goodness. I can sleep tonight. Thanks guys for the advice

Glad it worked out for ya... sometimes just adding a little more fluid does the trick!
