Brake line leak?

Son bought a 2000 SR5 with 219k a couple a weeks ago. Runs and drives great, timing chain was replaced at 210k miles. Anyway the brake light was lite on the dash. After some reading I checked the brake fluid. It was low, I added fluid light went off. He has parked in the same spot since he bought it. It has set a entire week while on vacation, no leaks on the ground. I put the fluid in yesterday. Came out this morning and I see a spot under the Runner. Ran finger through and it's not oil, can't really smell or feel anything. Concrete soaked it up. It needs an oil change, guess I'll see what the shop can find while they are under there.

After you topped off the brake fluid, you didnt clarify, but I'm assuming the brake fluid was low again afterwards?

Following the brake lines is pretty easy, and it will show obvious signs where the leak is coming from. After i did my TBU and bled the system, couple days later I decided to recheck everything, and sure enough I had a small leak from my hardline going into the caliper. Just tightened it up and no more leak.

After you topped off the brake fluid, you didnt clarify, but I'm assuming the brake fluid was low again afterwards?

After i did my TBU and bled the system, couple days later I decided to recheck everything, and sure enough I had a small leak from my hardline going into the caliper. Just tightened it up and no more leak.

I checked the reservoir and it really doesn't look like it has gone down much. I'll crawl under and see if I can see anything.

you should see no drop in brake fluid over the short term. the only reason why it drops over months is because of the pads and shoes wearing causing more space to take up in the brake calipers the rear brakes should self adjust. If it is dropping look hard for a leak. :faint:

I don't believe it dropped. I didn't have enough to fill to the max level to begin with. I am watching it very close.
