Brake linings

I just had my 10000 mile maintenance check, and I mentioned a squeaking brake issue. The linings show 9mm front left, and 6mm front right. The rears are both at 7mm. Is the different measurements on the front linings normal? 80% of my driving has been on the highway. Seems odd to me.

That is surprising! Most of my driving is around town and at my 5k 'check-up' I was 12 on both fronts and 11 at both rears.

I have my 10k on Monday (actually at 11,111 now) and will let you know what they find. From their sheet 12 is the max (new from factory)

Having such a big difference between left and right front brakes is very suspicious - I wonder if you are about to become the first case of a stuck caliper on a 5th Gen? I would raise it with the dealer and see if they can give a reason for the difference that makes any sense. Please post back what they say - I fear it may be quite entertaining.

Thanks fellas..Im gonna go back to the dealer, see what they say, and I'm going to go to a local tire and brake company I do business with and get a second opinion..I'll let you know what I find out..I take it the sticking caliper is not uniquie to the 4-runner?

Who measured? Sure it wasn't a typo? There are 2 pads/wheel so are these outer readings?

It was done at the local dealership. The information was on one of their forms, it only has a line for one measurement per brake..I'm guessing the are the same??

I'd bet it's a typo, if not, schedule warranty work.

I had a friend at Les Scwab Tires check the brake linings, and he thought they looked fine, and were equal on both sides...I then went back to the dealership,and asked what was up with the measurements, and it was apparently a nine, and not a six, so it seems all is well with my brake pads.
