brake noise when backing

the sound is obviously from brakes. developed in recent two days. everything is fine when running forward. the sound is still there even when backing without braking.

Any idea?

I don't know what kind of noise it is (squeak, grind, clicking) but if it is a high pitch squeak then my first thought is the most obvious one: the brake pad wear indicators. Have you checked to see how much pad material is remaining?

I have this issue and was told by someone who once owned a tire and brake shop that it is from not enough grease being put on the back plate of the pads.

That person has no idea what he's talking about. You don't put grease on the back side of the pads. Only grease used is for the pad glides.

Without hearing the sound....it could be the wear indicators - but you should hear them when braking going forward also.

I suspect it might be the parking brake. The parking brake is a completely separate system on this truck.

when backing, my runner gets a squeak, but i can feel and hear there is grind, too. when braking while going forward, there is nothing wrong if moderate force is applied. but it gets grind too when press the brake with more force.

Yeah. i do hear grind braking going forward, but it is different than the sound braking backing.

grinding sound when braking no matter running forward or backing, but squeak without braking when backing. i looked at the four brakes. right rear brake disc is mildly damaged, having developed uneven surface.

time to replace brakes?

Also, Only the right rear disc has issue, so could it be something else wrong other than the pad?

If it is grinding then one of your pads is probably worn down all the way which is what caused the damage to the disk.
