Swishing brake after replacement

I had a seized caliper and had to bang the rotor off with a hammer when I replaced everything.

I re-adjusted the parking brake, and I feel like I did a pretty good job; tighten till rotor wont move and then back off 8 pushes on the star adjuster. I also lubed the contact surfaces on the shoe mechanism

After putting the car back together and test driving it I got a swishswishswishswish noise.

I pulled the wheel back off and re-adjusted the star 4 more 'pushes' to move the star adjuster.

Now it's faint and comes and goes totally randomly. I can get the sound to stop instantly if I push in the parking brake pedal 1 notch while driving.

Any ideas? Will it work itself out over time?

The brakes themselves work great.

I would drive it a while and see if it gets better, worst that can happen is the parking brake shoes get a little wear.

Drove it for a few days and it came and went and now it seems to have died down entirely. weird. Would love to track down the root cause.

You could of had a rock or some debris stuck between the rotor and dust shield that has now fallen out. :noidea:
