Brake pad/rotors of choice?

I'm going to be replacing my front brake pad/rotors myself this weekend and was checking to see if you guys had any recommendations as to what brands you use? I usually shop at O'Reilly's or Advance Auto. Thaks for the help.

I prefer OE pads because they have given me the most consistent performance over time. I've tried several different brands of rotors and found it's worth spending the money on the best you can afford, regardless of brand. For example, I bought the cheapest Pro Stop rotors once and they warped within a month, so I returned them and upgraded to the next level up and they've been fine for years.

Another vote for Toyota. I got the best ceramic Autozone pads they sell and they grooved pretty bad in less than 10,000 miles. I haven't noticed any unusual wear with OEM ones.

Toyota. Their brake pads last forrreeeevvvveeeerrrr.

Just have you rotors turned, machine shops charge about $15 a side. O'Reilly's should do it I think.

I didn't think rotor brand was important, but damn was I wrong. I ended up warping WBR rotors in a week. Switched to Brembo rotors and it's been fine since. I use Axxis pads.

I used to say Toyota OEM all the way until I put Akebono pads on my wife's Lexus. Price is right and nothing but excellent reviews on them.

I just put brembo blanks and akebono pro-act (I think that's what they are called) from advanced and I love em!

For the first 12 years or so of my car building experiences I have ran every known aftermarket pad and rotor you can think of. Last few years I've ran OEM. I will not run anything but OEM from here on out. Last longer. No dust.

Akebono proact is what I usually go with, but I've been running the duralast gold ceramics from autozone for a bit now and they seem to be pretty nice.

OEM rotors/pads, but change out the front hardware too. and clean the rust on any moving part surface. even the slightest buildup of rust can cause issue. you want them as free moving as possible.

During my last brake job I bought Pep Boys high-carbon rotors (I'm sure other parts stores carry the same thing),they're supposed to be more resistant to warping. So far so good,no pulsation.

Pad-wise,stay away from either EBC Greenstuff pad unless you like cleaning brake dust every few days. Even the "virtually dust free" Greenstuff (which I'm currently using) is really dusty.

I use Centric rotors and pads. Seems quite reliable to me so far.
