Brake Pads (3rd gen)

Anyone know if you can use metallic pads/shoes on a 96 4runner? Just bought my first 4runner a few months ago and I keep getting conflicting answers from the local parts stores.

Thanks for the help.

Pads

When I first decided on my brake upgrade, I went with slotted/crossdrilled rotors, steel braided lines and upgraded carbon/metalic pads. If you go to autozone and ask for performace friction (part # 5024) pads for a 96 landcruiser, they will actually fit your 4runner perfectly and are identical to the TRD pads. Should be about 38 buch for a set with lifetime warrenty. In retrospect, I should have done the 231mm tundra upgrade. Mine work well, just. Lil to overworked when towing or haul'n load. No warpage yet, but if and when it happens...... 231's here I come.
