brake problem

I had a bad time with my ball joints a while back and ended up having the wheel come off. I fixed that, but since then the traction anti slip or whatever it is called does not work. A mechanic told me it was very expensive part, a module or something that needs replacing. Any help would be appreciated.

You mean the Anti-lock Braking System?

When you hit the brakes, do you lock up when you're not suppose to?

Or is it when you hit the gas that you spin out?

Two VERY different systems here that are being discussed.

Could be that the wheel speed sensor got messed up in the incident. I imagine if 1 out of 4 sensors is messed up the system will go batty.

The ABS on these 4runners suck at any rate, so if it is okay to drive then I would leave it....as is

I agree, but it would be nice to get it fixed for resale and to turn those annoying dash lights off.

Ok back for more. All lights are on, traction control says it is off. What and where is the electrical component that controls this? I need to turn those lights off.

did you check the sensor wire at the corner where the tire came off?

and have you had it scanned for codes?
