Brake Shudder?

I know it's a little premature, but I've noticed a shudder in the breaks when slowing down normally at any speed, it can be from 60-0 or 45-0 doesn't matter. The shudder is brief and goes away, but I was just wondering if it will go away. It feels like they grab.

The 4runner only has 350 miles on it so far but I was wondering if anyone had any advice, or perhaps this is normal, or just break in?

I'm not super mechanically inclined but from your description it sounds like your rotors are warped.
At 350 miles this shouldn't even be an issue and I would take it in.

The 4 runner also has that brake modulator ..when slowing depending on the pedal pressure it will pulse and apply the brakes harder sometimes I forget what its call ed but with only 350 miles I would guess thats what your feeling. and not warped rotors as that isnt enough time to ruin them unless you ride the brake all the time you are driving and overheated the brakes !!!

I have notice a slight shutter when applying the brakes at any speed on my '08 Sport (175 miles). I also notice a slight oscillation left and right of the steering wheel when applying brakes. When I release the brakes, the oscillation stops.

I am going to play with it a little longer before contacting taking it back to the dealer to see if the trend is better, worse or no change.

Other than that, I absolutely love this car!

I would ask the dealer to replace the rotors and pads,at this mileage I would not want my rotors resurfaced and end up with less metal mass on the rotor.Does the steering wheel vibrate when you feel the problem ? If not then its the rear rotors.

It's two things. Both of which are normal. First, it's your tranny walking down the gears as you slow...5-4-3-2-1. That will fade as the mechanicals wear in. But it won't go away. Just the nature of a true mud-buggie built SUV. Second, your pads are wearing their grooves into the rotors, which is normal as well. No brake pad is the same, each has it's own unique "fingerprint" style of grooving the rotor. I guarantee you, at 100k, if you put on brand new rotors/pads/fitmentkits-shims, they'll do this again. Although a little differently due to the wheel studs and and other parts being worn in. But, what you're feeling is the car "seating" itself. Give it a few thousand miles of break-in..
