Brake squeal in reverse only.....so far

Brakes are working well, recently had tires put on and visually inspected pads to have what I expect is 80% left. However, recently they have started squealing - i believe the fronts - when I back up. Havent heard them do it going forward. Is this a common deal with T4R's?

Does not sound like a real issue.

I would keep an eye on the pad wear and let that be my gauge. If there is un-even wear (front of the pad to the rear of the pad as it is oriented) then you do have a issue, otherwise......drive forward LOL

Usually the squeek is from deposits on the rotor. The reason it is only in reverse can be a couple things, the low speed.. and usually people reverse their vehicles first, before going forward(backing out of parking spots/garages).. speed(heat) removes the deposits.

I would not worry about it.. if you are truely anal about it though, you can easily remove the pads and apply anti-"squeek" compound to reduce the noise.

I have an '05 with the same problem... well, almost the same. Mine squeals in reverse as well as at low speeds going forward. I checked all the pads last weekend & they probably had about 75% left on them. When I get another free day, I am going to take them off again & apply some anti-squeal compound & hope that it helps. I know the brakes are fine, but it is extremely annoying hearing them squeal every time I come to a stop.

Same issue here. I noticed it seems to squeal more when its cold outside.

Check you don't have a seized caliper - it's not uncommon on the 4th Gen - I had my second front caliper problem at 144,000km

Mine will squeal only after I wash the truck and at that they only squeal for a few minutes. I always drive the truck around the block and back it up a few feet to dry the brakes after a wash it and all is good !
