brake stop lamp switch

The combination of 2 vsc warning lights and my abs light in addition to the fact that I am having to use the shift-interlock override switch leads me to believe that the brake lamp switch has gone bad.

I ordered one, couldn't find any in the aftermarket. Can anyone offer any advice on how to install this switch? Having done the same switch previously on a Jetta it was all about how to set the plunger. I wonder what toyotas design will be like.

Dealer quoted me $120 in labor to replace the brake pedal switch ("switch assembly stop") on my 2007 4Runner. I just replaced it in less than 2 minutes thanks to this post. THANK YOU!

1) Depress tab on blue plug and pull out.
2) Twist switch counter clockwise and pull down
3) Push new switch up and twist clockwise (I didn't replace the brown nut)
4) Put blue plug back in.

Now I start the truck, the traction control lights all come on, then turn off, and I can put the truck in gear. Viola!

Does anyone know the Toyota part number for the brake light switch? I replaced mine with one that O'Reilly had in stock and it failed again after about 3 months. I'm going to see if they will give me another one, but I'm thinking the next time it fails I should switch to OEM.

Edit - found the part number. 84340-09310. $30 from my local dealer or $12-18 online depending on shipping. It's also called a Stoplamp switch.
