brake upgrade 1st gen

Have any of you guys swapped out the breaks on your 1st generation? I know most of us have 15" wheels which is a little limiting but is there anything I can do to improve braking? They are currently in good working order.

Thanks,
Chet

I put vented rotors on mine, but I dont notice any gains.

Lots of folks seem to like running a 1" bore master cylinder and dual diapraghm brake booster out of a V6 or turbo truck/4runner. I will be doing this swap in a few weeks if not sooner.

That will change pedal effort, but it won't stop any better.

Umm, what year?

I have heard that it will make a huge difference in braking, but I know what you are saying... Makes me wonder if those that upgraded the MC had an existing problem with the old one. I will be finding out how it goes once I get me parts lined up and will report back with results.

assuming yours is a 4cyl... i know a couple guys that have just completely swaped their 4cyl brake system for a newer 6cyl system. ive heard the swap isnt too bad either

Along the same lines, if I've upgraded my 86 with 16" wheels, are the good, affordable brake upgrade options?

Same as 87, V6 calipers.

One thing I forgot to add before is that the fins on the V6 calipers can sometimes rub a bit on some rims, but a little grinding usually takes care of it.

I have an 87. When doing the swap to the v6 calipers do you need the v6 rotors as well? And do you need 16" rims or will the 15" work with the v6 calipers and rotors?
