I came across 4-ripcord build thread and i was wondering if the tundra front brake upgrade will work on a '98? any help will be helpful

No more warped rotors.
The 4runner stops on a dime, or close to it in comparison to the stock calipers and pads whether one is using the 4runner to tow, descend a mountain, or similar. If you have a lift, the pluses become more apparent.
The only drawback, other than the price upgrade of bigger calipers, rotors, and the like is the possibility of an initial spongy brake pedal. Mine was like this at first and it turned out to be caused by: bubbles in the fluid that were finally flushed out after about 500 miles and using used brake pad clips or springs, that were ultimately replaced with new ones. The brakes worked well since.

thanks guys for the input. its the wife daily driver plus soon to be on off road vehicle. so i want to do the upgrades now when im replacing parts and components

How is lack of proper bleeding a drawback? I saw speed bleeders in autozone, should look into them.
Stopping distance is not decreased with bigger brakes. You can skid your fronts with std rotors/calipers; therefore, you have sufficient brake torque for the available tire friction. Larger mass means less brake fade, an issue maybe for descending, towing, etc.
