Brakes for 09 TE

I am looking at getting new brakes for my 09 trail edition, what are some good options out there that are under $300 for front and rear? Since it has 16” wheels I wasn’t sure if the brake size was different then a normal 4Runner. We pull a travel trailer so I kind of wanted to beef them up a little.

The brake size is smaller than the sport and limited edition. If you go larger you'll need new wheels as your 16's won't fit a sport edition or 5th gen caliper. Some people on here seem to like some of the powerstop options if your sticking with the stock size.

I’m guessing then, since I have the 16” wheels, that the rotors are the 12.5” 319mm and not the 338mm?

Yes, smaller size is what I used, stuck with 16's because I just got new tires too. Rock Auto is great price wise, just did mine the last week-end with coated calipers and rotors and just today admiring the effectiveness, to which yesterday I did the Camry coated calipers (didn't need rotors) and I am using ceramic brake pads to hopefully cut down on the dust too.

Might look into Rockauto for some reman calipers (if yours are frozen) if they're still working well then you can probably spring for some rotor / pad set off Amazon

Max Brakes OE Series Rotors w/Ceramic Brake Pads Front + Rear

Max Brakes E-Coated Slotted|Drilled Rotors w/Ceramic Brake Pads Front + Rear

I went with this for my 3rd gen when I was removing my big brake kit. My friend used his so far for 20k. I put together my own kit using slotted Stoptech rotors and Hawk LTS pads but if you're on a budget, don't go my route. These kits will save you a lot more than putting it together yourself. You can also look into the performance tow kits that Rock Auto has.

I have the Max Brake kit on the front, really nice for the price and free shipping too.

Those black rotors are sweet, wish they had them in the smaller size for the 16” wheels. Half the price as the power stops too.
