Brakes kickin' my A$$

Good morning,

Took my 2006 4runner Sport offroad this weekend. The trail had numerous creek crossings and when I started going downhill, my brakes were making a ton of the worst noise you ever heard. At first, I thought I had screwed something up, but turns out they were just wet. After they dried, no noise.

Is there a certain type of brake pad that would be better if I plan on getting wet while offroad?

I've never experienced brake noise as a result of the pads being wet. In fact, they would most likely quiet down when wet. I'd take a look at the rotors, you might have picked up some sand or gravel. Could also have been the worn pad indicator giving you a heads up...maybe???

Not sure, it didn't last long, so I chalked it up to the stream crossings. It wasn't like a squeal or grinding, more like a vibration type sound. Maybe it was grit or something.

I put new pads on the week before we went wheeling. I had this happen after passing through a few soupy puddles. A quick press of the throttle got rid of the debris in between the rotors and pads. It's not uncommon.
