Brakes Sticking

So every now and again, it seems like my front left caliper is locking up. What happens is when I'm nearly stopped and hit the brakes softly, the front end locks up completely and makes some audible noises, but when I let go of the brakes, it frees up and continues to move if i should hit the gas. It does not do this every time, and my braking at speeds above 5 mph is not effected. Any suggestions on what to look at would be helpful. For what its worth, about 8 months ago, the old brake pads were going bad, and I replaced them with duralast gold, but the problem did not arrive until about a month ago. any tips or suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks guys!

Sounds like a sticking caliper to me, shouldn't have anything to do with the brake pads. I'd pull the calipers and see how easily they compress with a c-clamp to determine how sticky they are. If the drivers side is definitely tougher to move (even if it moves) that is likely your issue.

Pretty sure your ABS is kicking in. Other people have had issues with low speed
ABS. You can pull the fuse for the ABS and see if this stops the problem. Most seemed to be solved by cleaning the wheel sensors.

Non-OEM brake pads may cause this issue. Did you have the same issue with previous brake pads?

You don't have to remove the brake calipers. Remove one brake pad and with a screw driver you should be able to lever two pistons into the caliper easily. It should slide in easily. Now place the removed brake pad inside the caliper and remove the other brake pad, now try to press the pistons in with a screwdriver. it should go in without any excessive force.

I think it is the brake pad. Those aftermarket brakes are truly no use.

Thanks for the replies guys!
No I didn't have the issue before I replaced the pads, tomorrow's the first day I've had off in a while so I'll check out my brakes and see what's going on.
The abs sensor is an interesting idea. I'll make sure to check that out.
Thanks!

Hey! I know this is a longshot... Were you able to figure out your issue? I have noticed the same issue with my right front wheel.
