Hi all,

I received my brand new Eclipse AVN5435 unit which I ordered from ebay today. After trying to install it myself for 4 hours using the Schosche TA1465B, I have hit a road block. Firstly, I cannot register my address using the instructions in the manual. And secondly, I cannot put the main center plastic dash board back together. Scosche brackets look to be coming in the way. One thing I would like to pint out is that I have not connected speed sensor and parking brake wires as I don't know how to do this. Could this potentially be causing a problem? I would really appreciate if you gurus can help answer these questions. Appreciate it.

You need to change the area on the destination screen to your state. That should take care of the registration problem.

My main Menu (Navi) screen has everything except Volume button greyed out. My Places and Map DVD buttons are also greyed out. Would your suggestion work in this case too? Appreciate your help in advance.

Yes you need both the parking wire and speed sensor to use your nav system. If the parking wire is not grounded, it will not let you enter info.

With the speed sensor, i think it will just be inaccurate.

Can you please give me some more detail as to how I would be able to attach parking and speed sensor wires?

Yes, you need to attach the parking sensor wire. I missed that when I first read your post. Just connect it to ground. Anywhere in the dash that is metal and has a bolt you can attach to should work. I can't help you with the speed sensor but it will work without that attached. I don't have a 4Runner so somebody else should know where to ground it. I'm assuming you have inserted the map dvd.
