Brand of Plugs - Which is best?

Hi all,

I just bought my first 4Runner, 1990 V6, 219,000 miles. I was wondering if any particular brand of plugs seems to run best in Toyotas? Or what people have found to work for them?

The brand that seems to work best in our 1990 V6 4runner is NGK (part# BKR5EYA). I change them out annually when changing the synthetic oil. They are inexpensive, and quite reliable in quality.

Suggest add a dab of anti sieze grease to the threads. Also, and IMO, with that many miles, and if the vehilcle has been using standard mineral oil, I would not go to synthetic??

Discussed many times this forum and NGK is definitely the consensus. What needs to be reminded is that they should always be used in conjunction with Denso OEM wires.

Do you also use OEM Cap and Rotor? Or aftermarket?

For the plug wires, do you just go through your Toyota dealer, or is there a favorite place online to purchase?

Denso cap and rotor are available online and most parts stores. I think if you were to go to the dealer it would cost close to $100 or more.

I used a NGK wire set with a Denso Rotor and Cap.

I just use autohausaz.com and or factory dealers who discount online. If you order from autohausaz, I just make sure the parts are made in Japan. Daiihachi, NGK, Denso part quality is pretty high.

The Toyota manuals specify NGK and Denso.
They now what's best for their vehicles.
