I am wondering is there a way to modify a 2006 Limited w/out DRL to use the brights as the DRL instead of the parking lights? maybe install the relay to activate the DRL, but then rewire somewhere else?

Thanks

06 limited should have amber drl....

What years had DRL? I see a lot of 4runners on the road presumably that are DRL equipped (unless they're all just rolling around with their parking lights on), but mine doesn't seem to have it.

2006 Sport

I don't really want it, I was just curious which models had and didnt have them.

If you use your Brights as DRLs, you will eventually piss off the wrong person. I would highly recommend not doing that.:gun6:

a lot of cars have their brights as DRLs including recent lexus SUVs, besides it would be during the daytime only (obviously) so no matter what stock-type light is being illuminated it would never be all that annoying - but the brights would be better in my opinion than the subtle parking lights at making other drivers aware of your presence. i am just curious of how and if this could be done, with some sort of wiring mod?

DRLs were optional on 4th gens. It was always the amber lights.

Other vehicles that use the highbeam bulbs for DRLs have them running at half power, so they are not blinding oncoming traffic.

Those vehicles that use any of the headlamps for DRL's run them at approx 40% normal output. I'm sure you COULD rig yours up but I guess I don't understand WHY you want to. Since DRL's are simply to allow other drivers to see you and the existing ambers work exceptionally well, the only difference between the 2 is in the annoyance factor.

ah well i'll just rig up my fogs so i can turn them on/off at will and then install the DRL relay

My family will be driving my 4Runner while i'm gone and for safety I would like to turn on the DRL. Is there a relay to do such?
