Broke a wheel stud today

So this afternoon I was installing some mud flaps on my truck and I snapped one of the wheel studs I think that I had some help from whoever did the undercoating, but I will be heading to the dealership tomorrow to try an buy another.

Does anyone know if the front axle on the 5th gen is common to another vehicle? I assume it is an they should have the part in stock. Once I get over being pissed off I will take an after picture of the mud flaps.

By the way the torque spec for the lug nuts is: 83 FT-LBS

Go to NAPA, tell them you have an '03. It'll cost $2 and I'm 99% sure it'll work just fine.

It's an easy fix once you get a replacement stud.

Remove the wheel, brake caliper and rotor. Take a hammer and pound out the old broken stud. Thread the new stud through the hub flange, stack some washers over the stud and tighten with a lug nut until the stud is fully seated.

The mud flaps are generic from advanced auto parts. I took the wheel off to get access to screw the inside edge into the fender liner. They look pretty good but do not offer as much coverage as i would have liked due to the shape of the fender.

I will try the stud for the 03 and see how it goes, thanks.

Fixed the wheel stud today quick and easy job. Part number for the stud is PT 90942-02049. While I was at it i replaced the wheel locks with regular lug nuts $8.64 each PT90942-01058. IMO wheel locks are a real PITA.

They came with mine. I have never had them, and debated on switching them out. I dont live in an area where someone is going to put my truck up on blocks! Is there really any good reason to keep them?

Wheel locks are that bad, until the key gets misplaced.

For 4Runners, at least with 4th gens around the Chicago area, stolen spares are a bigger issue.
