broke down tonight 08 limited

I was driving down the road heard a weird noise when stopping. When I tried to stop again the right rear wheel locked up completly. I had to have the truck towed. It will free up if you back up but the second you hit the brake again it will lock the rear wheel I had to pull off the road the wheel was actually locked solid. Not too happy under a year bought it new only has 9K on it now and I had to pay for the tow and will have to try to get my money for that. We will see what they find.

ok here is the deal with the truck. It was not my rear wheel that locked it was my front passenger wheel the bolt for the caliper was not torqed down from the factory. the bolt backed out and wrecked the inside of my rim. The parts are on order now this is the second toyota I had with a loose caliper bolt I had an 07 rav 4 that did not lock up but was clunking. Just a caution to anyone with this truck just check your caliper bolts so they don;t back out into the rim and lock it up.

You sure that it just wasn't fault of a recent mechanic because I have an 08' sport and the mechanic who installed my spacer lift forgot to put or forgot to tighten a bolt in my front driver side caliper and a similar instance happened to me. Luckily when it happened I was near my dealership and only had a few stops but used the gear shifter to help slow me down. All in all you should always check your calipers if your brakes have ever been touched.

That's weird. A caliper bolt shouldn't really be removed to install a lift spacer...

Oh man, the exact same thing happened to me when i was going 60 down the highway. BAM! my front right wheel locks up and I take off, off the side of the road. I could back up fine but even a foot forward and my wheel would lock up. Sure enough the guy who swaped my pads last did not get the screw in tight enough, or at all for that matter!

Forgot to mention car is bone stock never worked on or in the shop it only has 9K. It is Toyota's fault 100%. I don't like to admit it but they screwed up does not happen often but more and more it seems.

Well im not really sure besides the fact that my caliper slid a my driver front brake would lock up every time I hit them.

Toyota tells me 8 to 10 weeks for my money back for the tow great customer service. When I had my GM the customer service was great car sucked but good customer service.
