Broken/Corroded DS Zerk

Noticed this awhile back when lubing the drive shaft, but am finally getting around to fixing. Not sure when the zerk fitting broke off the slip joint, but as you can see, there is also some corrosion.

Any recommendations on the best way to fix? Will an easy out work on this? I don't have a lot of experience with using screw extractors, so any specific recommendations on products or methods is appreciated. I already did a fair amount of searching through this forum and the web, but due to the extra corrosion, I just thought I would post and see if anyone has any good ideas.

zerk fitting removal

you can use a left turning bit on a low setting of the drill bit.
ez out a little tricky but will work or abn Zerk Fitting Tool ten bucks on amazon.
extract, rethread and install zerk.

Easiest way to get it out is to gently pound the appropriate size torx bit in to the hole and then use a 1/4 wrench on that

Start applying penetrant to it now while you're waiting on tools.

Is the slip yoke zerk one of the pressed-in ones? If so, keep that in mind while extracting.

Thanks for the replies. I think what I will do first is see if I can chip off some of that outer corrosion with a flat screwdriver and hammer, then soak the area with some PB blaster for a few days. Then I will use a screw extractor/left-hand bit or torx bit to back it out. Hopefully it comes out ok, and I don't have to drill it out.
