So my 1996 4Runner has a broken rear wiper. The arm of the wiper is only very loosely connected to the stem coming out of the motor/door. There is a thin metal cover covering the area where the wiper arm connects to the motor stem.
Anyone have any idea how to remove the cover so that I can see what is going on with this connection? I've tugged on it in a couple different ways and can't seem to get it loose. I'm thinking if I can get up in there, I might be able to connect it properly and resolve the issue. I can hear the motor running when I turn it on, but the movement is never transferred to the arm since the connection is broken.
If I remove the wiper arm from the "stable" position, the arm just flops loosely and will travel around in a complete circle..
Thoughts? Suggestions?
