Broken Shock

Drivin home from the window tinters today thinkin about how bomb proof a 4RUNNER really is. Went across some RR tracks and noticed a noise comin from the rear. I just got done paintin the license plate frame yesterday and figured I forgot something.
The closer I got to home, the louder the noise got. When I got home I crawled underneath the beast and the only thing I could find was a loose spare tire. Not rattlin around loose but not as tight as I thought it should be. I tightened it up then took a ride. Noise still there. I drove the rearend up on some 6x6's and crawled under again.
This time I found it, broken shock. No tellin how long it's been broke. The piece thats broke, the top mount of the shock, was rusty and there's no new shiny broken metal anywhere. Haven't been 4wheelin or nothin, I reckon it was just time.

I've seen other threads where it's awfully difficult to remove this bolt (on the good shock) and a sawzall was the ticket. Anymore advice that might help me? I did the PB Blaster thing already too.

I just changed my stock shocks, but they were intact. All I did was put a wrench on the top nut, and just turn the shock using a pipewrench. In your situation, you may want to use the sawzall or a cutting torch. If you can get close enough to the bolt, you may be able to use a grinder, but I think that would be very difficult.

Sorry I wasn't much help, hope someone on here has another method!
