BT Phone = bleeding ears

So - last question for the day (sorry for being so needy).

Has anyone else found their BT Phone calls to be blaring loud? I tried turning down the volume on the phone and on the receiver - no good. I'd really like to use the BT phone, but I don't know if it's worth ruining my already shoddy hearing over it - it's more destracting than helpful... :lookout:

what type of phone and what model/year 4runner and head-unit do you have?

Are you talking about when the phone rings, or the volume of the other person's voice during the call?
I have a 2013 and use the BT phone often, I like it pretty well. If you're talking about the other person's voice volume at least on mine: once the call is established, you can use the up and down volume buttons on the steering wheel to change the call volume.

Go into the BT options in the dash, there is a setting for call volume and ring volume. (I am assuming you have the NAV system).

If its the car ringtone I don't know but if it's loud when people talk you can lower the volume of your phone. That's what I did and now I hear people just fine, sometimes the sound was too loud.

You have both options on the dash settings and on you phone settings but on the phone you have to do it while you have a call going on as the bluetooth will take over.
That is for a Samsung GS3 I have no idea for other phones like the I phone.

the volume of the other person's voice - I tried changing the volume once the call was going with no success out:

I don't have the NAV - but I will see if I can find that option in the unit that I have. I looked through the OM but could only find the following statement: Keep the volume of the incoming voice down. Otherwise, voice echo will increase.

Alright - so credit where it's due - grey ghost was spot on, I guess you have to press the steering wheel buttons harder for the phone volume vs for music.

And dhampir - there wasn't a call and ring volume in my options, but there was one to turn down the automated voice, which is great in of itself.

Following up on this, when I'm talking to my wife and we've swapped vehicles, it always echoes. Is she simply turning the volume up too much? Is there any way to prevent this issue beside volume (i understand that echo is a feeback loop issue, but still asking)?
