Budbuilt diff skid.....

Anyone running this? opinions on it? Can't seem to find many of you using it that have other Budbuilt skids and I am trying to decide if I should include it with my purchase of the front skid and belly pan soon.

I've had my eye on this for a while. My budbuilt skids are tough so I can only assume this one would be too but I've never seen it so I cant say for sure. You should get it and then show me once I'm back in FoCo :biggrin1:

I went with a Sky Mfg Toyota Ring Gear Guard - Sky's Off-road Design It's a weld on. It covers the thin/soft rear cover. The bottom of the Toyota diff is pretty strong.

I've had my eye on this for a while. My budbuilt skids are tough so I can only assume this one would be too but I've never seen it so I cant say for sure. You should get it and then show me once I'm back in FoCo :biggrin1:

I went with a Sky Mfg Toyota Ring Gear Guard - Sky's Off-road Design It's a weld on. It covers the thin/soft rear cover. The bottom of the Toyota diff is pretty strong.

Ya I like that too and might consider it just kinda wanted to avoid welding on the diff not that I find anything wrong with it just preference I guess. Although I was wondering if you have any idea if this would interfere with your gas tank skid? No worries if you don't know I still plan to pick both up and will let you know how they work out together.

I was coming in here to say this
Welding is always more involved, but I feel it pays better dividends
in regards to maintenance, clearance, budget, and badass-ery.

I've got both his skids, and they are amazing.

Sorry, I don't have that answer. My skid is tighter to the gas tank than the stock one. But it's a touch longer so I could relocate the inside rear away from the driveshaft flange. Please let me know if you try them together.

If cutting / grinding is required, the price point still aint bad compared to a powdercoated budbuilt skid

Do you have the rear diff skid? Do you wheel often? Does it make contact with anything? Are you running sway bars? (sorry)

I've had it for a few years now and wheeled the dickens out of it.

I have a rear sway bar on. And a gas tank skid.

It does not contact anything flexing, drains water well, doesn't budge taking a hit. The forward edge of it is also sloped aggressively. When making contact it has acted like a ramp sliding the diff up and over rather than getting stuck like the bare diff would.

I think you'll dig it. Only real negative is you lose about 1/4 inch in ground clearance (it does fit VERY tight to the bottom of the diff) but the protection it has more than compensated for that.
