Budget Roof rack option.....

I have been searching awhile for a budget roof rack / cargo basket option for our summer camping trips.i wanted the gobi and never could justify that kind of coin. We leave for a 2 week. Ew England trip that will include the white mountains and Acadia state park. Needing extra storage space I decided to get the rolls rack pictured below. I will also probably get the extension at some point but wanted to at least have the rack by then. The fit and finish are pretty impressive for $150 and the rack is extremely sturdy. Just thought I would post to show anyone interested.

Its a nice looking rack. I had a Yakima LoadWarrior rack and its so fuggly on the 4R and is over priced IMO.

[MENTION=165470]DCT4R[/MENTION] yes, it comes with mounts that clamp it to the cross bars. There's also a company out there (I can't remember who) that sells an adapter bracket for the 4th gen 4runners that mounts the Rola rack lower, sitting between and bolted directly to the side rails, rather than to the cross bars. Not sure how the dimensions of the 5th gen roof rails compare or if that kit will work.

The Rola seems pretty stout especially for the price. It's got a ton of good reviews on etrailer.com.

I considered it strongly, but ended up with the slightly larger but otherwise similar Rockymounts rack ($180 on etrailer.com). The main thing that turned me off to the Rola was the poor interface between rack and fairing.

Edit, apparently the Rockymounts is back up to $269 (it was on sale for a while at $180) so for a budget option I guess the Rola is the better choice)

Sorry, yes it's the ROLA rack - darn spell check. The mounts on this fit perfectly on my 5th gen cross bars. I will say there is very little wind noise after driving for 2 days with it installed. And it seems extremely well built. The reviews were really good and even then it's exceeded my expectations. They even include rubber sleeves to cover the seams where the front and back parts join so water doesn't infiltrate the insides of the rack and keeps it from rusting. All in all, I am very happy with the purchase especially considering the functionality and good price. I will be getting the extension some time soon as well.

That looks like a heck of a deal! If I decide to put off a full rack for a while, I will 100% be going that route.
