That's the same one I just got from Autozone. I think it was $38 & I had to special order it but it arrived in two days quick.

I have the AVS II (I think same as 96743runner) and I like it. It flexes a bit while in the highway, but then again, so does my hood. I bought it, like CoB, to prevent rock chipping. I was getting alot of chipping as I commute on the highway.

Install was easy, took 5 minutes. I havn't put the rubber bumpers on because it was well below 0° when I was putting it on and I couldn't clean the hood without the water immediately freezing to it. I'll put them on when it warms up.

I have the AVS one and one of it's biggest advantages it sits away from the hood enough to easily clean behind it and while they did supply bumpstops with it I've never needed them as it never touches the hood.

I have to actually force it back to contact the hood.

This was my first one that kept a big rock from hitting the hood.

I got bugflector II free because cut my hand installing the in channel ventshade and wrote them about it so they sent me one. It really makes the car look MEAN! and it gives you the choice of sticking the stand out AVS sticker or not on it so i left it off. I looked at my bugflector II today and noticed it not only stands way off the top of the hood but well infront of it. I thought it would be tight up against the edge but it's not, is it that way for everyone?

I had to remove my own AVS Bugflector II because it was well in front of the hood and interfered with the top hoops of my new custom front bumper

I wish I could find the Lund Avenger, which appears to mount up tighter to the hood...

I want one for the sole purpose of preventing rock chips, seems Elton's Lund Avenger would be good. Did they discontinue them?

Yup. I have an OEM one too and put it on during the winter to keep rock chips to a minimum. Works rather well for that.

Does it really prevent bugs on windshield? Gas mileage chgane?

I know this is old, but it's such a good thread title, I don't need to make a 2nd post saying the same thing, and good info in here. They do more for rocks than bugs, but if you don't do much highway, you won't get chips. Most of them make the hood vibrate at the back edges though.

Now, I've had an EGR bugshield that was AWESOME! It recently cracked, had it for over 10 years, It was the 3D carbon fiber version and let the paint color show through and was super cool.

Recently, got a new hood and since I'm in the business, I got the AVS bugflector II and a GTS clear one that you can leave clear or it can be painted to match from behind.

I don't like either of them like I did my old one, so may just run without one.

Well, got a nice stone chip BAD real bad thanks to no bugshield. Problem is the EGR one is no longer made and I've now tried 2 bugshields that I don't like.... Guess I could 3m clear bra the front?
