As I'm sitting here killing time, I thought to myself, wouldn't it be great if Toyota combined the TE and the Limited Edition and created the "Platinum Edition" 4Runner? It would have all the amenities of the Limited (leather, fulltime 4WD, keyless entry, push button start, heated seats, dual climate control) with the key components that separate the Trail Edition (KDSS, crawl control, terrain selector, rear locker) and throw in a multi-mode 4WD with Torsen center diff (as in 4th gen) with center diff locker and manual 4WD lever (none of the electronic shifting to 4WD). Also throw in the body styling of the TE with the 30 degree approach angle. Now I'd quickly trade in my ride for a "Platinum Edition". It's ok to dream, right? :guitar3:

Throw in a V8 and I would order one today.

You guys are in luck!

Land rovers are cool, but reliability is terrible. I briefly considered one before I bought my 4runner (used LR3's are cheap), but I can't afford to be stranded and not be able to get to work.......let alone be stuck out in BFE.

Anyone remember this?

This! Landrovers are piles. I really love the LR4 styling and all but they just aren't dependable. Last thing any of us would want is to be off-roading in the middle of nowhere with no cellular service and a broken truck. This is also why the Grand Cherokee doesn't appeal to me.

Toss me a turbo Diesel!

Only BMW and Mercedes offer diesel SUV's here. I seriously looked at a Blue Tec MB 350, but couldn't stomach the price. I REALLY wanted Toyota to offer a turbo diesel version of the 4Runner.

okay.. I REALLY secretly wanted a Hilux with the 2.5L turdo diesel.. But that will never happen here in North America.

V8 4.6 or V8 5.7 and take away any Black Stuff

Keep it Body Color

And give me the stock SR5 6-Spoke Wheels w/ 33" KM2 or Goodyear Duratrac

Me too!! I need a V8 and have been looking elsewhere due to the current engine configuration. And, I do not like the styling of the GX. Heck I would even settle for a turbo charged V6 similar to that of the Ecoboost. Nissan and Cummings are offering a turbo diesel in the Titan so I can only image that a diesel will be coming soon to at least the Tundra. But Toyota needs to do something with the power of the 4Runner. It is sluggish.

I would hope they will offer at least a six speed transmission in the future since Ford and Chrysler have already announced 8 speeds. I know the Toyota’s Lexus division was the first to pioneer an 8 Speed transmission I only wonder if they will offer it in their truck line.

Harper7 should just open up a custom shop converting limiteds into the "Platinum Limiteds". I would buy one today if I had $50k
