Build: Project Reality

I wanted to start my build thread and keep everything documented in one place. I have been driving mostly Toyota trucks since the early 90's. I have owned a 99 Tacoma Prerunner, 99 4 runner, 02 Tacoma limited 4d 4x4, a 1987 Corolla (AE86), an 86 FJ60 Landcruiser, the black sheep (09 Jeep JK wrangler 4d) and now my 14 SR5 4Runner.

I have spent a lot of time on IH8MUD when I restored my cruiser nod came to really like the Toyota community. Always willing to help and always willing to keep it honest.

I may get some flaming for my build but I have come to the realization that my usage does not include mudding, rock crawling etc. I really enjoy doing some easy trail riding. Thus my decision to pick up my 2014 with 2wd and a limited slip rear. I eventually will do a winch and possible rear OX locker if usage requires. Living in Florida and having four kids ages 8 through 14 I am mostly running around town dropping kids here and there. Some may scoff and say why not get 4x4. I got a smoking deal on the truck and was honest with myself about where I really would go with the truck.

Here is my jeep ImageUploadedByTapatalk1451531058.752155.jpgImageUploadedByTapatalk1451531079.704202.jpg

I installed the Toytec 3" spring lift and a set of BFG 275/70/17 on my stock wheels ImageUploadedByTapatalk1451531180.277700.jpgImageUploadedByTapatalk1451531214.828592.jpg
A step above limo tint on all windows.

Along with Lamin-x fog light cover.

I just installed xenondepot LED in high beams/drl, HiD in low beam and LED in fogs. Pics to come..

My tag should read Smkymntn as that is my screen name on MUD if you want to check by cruiser build.

Here is my build in 60 series wagon section :ROTM: February 2009
Discussion in '60-Series Wagons' started by Smkymntn

My plans include a roof rack, grill mounted 30" led bar, front bumper (or winch mounted inside stock bumper, led interior bulbs, Adjustable control arms and whatever else I see you guys doing that makes sense and is functional and looks good.

For xmas I got a set of NFAB side steps and an AVS hood stone guard.

Here are some of my poser shots

I like the angry uni-brow on the Jeep, also that's an interesting looking hood.

S'all good on the 2WD, not everyone on this forum is here to make an off-road monster. I can respect a good build done right, even if it's not my style. :)

Nice rig, think I saw you in Oldsmar. I came from the Jeep community too. had one of the first lifted JKUs in Tampa back in 2007

I had some overheating issues with the jeep. Ended up with vent for hood. You probably did I work in Oldsmar. Was dead set on having an LS put into the jeep but my 3.8 gave up the ghost and starting burning oil like crazy. Plus I was over seeing a million jeeps that looked exactly like mine. Silly I know but I like to have a unique vehicle.

Got HID low beams, LED high beams/deal and LED fogs with lamin-X. Much better. Aimed correctly and ready to go.

Also changed oil. Went smooth thanks to Antman https://vimeo.com/150442838

Video shows led drl flicker by you don't see with naked eye. Must be the refresh or something like that.

Rented a 4runner at the Atlanta airport, drove to Valdosta.

Couldn't figure out why it was so nimble until I was 2 hours down 75...lol...was 2wd! Drove great.

Great looking build!

Not trying to thread jack, but where in Ocala are those trails? I'm a California transplant living in Largo and I've been dying to get out and do some wheeling. All I've found in the area so far is giant mud holes. Not exactly what I'm looking for at the moment...

Ocala national park has jeep trails. Google maps is your friend. They are easily accessed.

So have been continuing upgrades. Led mounts from bradbrad and a 10" and 20" led bar stacked in front lower grill. Magnaflow 12586 muffler installed and Sprint booster. Very please with set up.

Added another coat of Zaino Brother sealant, changed out domes and door lights with led. Added ram mount for phone.

Looks great! I wonder how many of us on here are crazy enough to bother with the Zaino process on our 4runners. I thought I might be the only one.
