My booth at SEMA is probably 100-yards from where this will be... Looking forward to seeing it - mostly just because you don't see a lot of 4Runners there. Whatever it ends up looking like, it is going to stand out...

No. That is done too often. I like the stock look. Toyota USA will be looking at this during the show.

Toyota USA (more specifically TRD) looked at my 4Runner and took photos of the underside, felt violated since someone told me they saw them taking pics. It was easy for them, I park in one of the lots every day here on Toyota's campus. Hahaha. It's kinda fun to get the neck turning looks from some of the guys driving their stock TRD Pros when I pass by.

I always thought SEMA was an innovation event. Whats setting this 4Runner apart from any other? I am not seeing anything new... i mean this is stuff already on other rigs. I am just a little disappointed.

I've been to SEMA every year for the last 15 years. I work in the industry. I can probably count on one hand how many 4runners I have seen there. They just don't get the respect other vehicles get. They are like a rare bird when you actually see one. So, with that, even if this build is only showcasing known mods to all of us, to those that are not die hard 4Runner folks, this will look good and unique just for the simple fact that it is there. I agree that it is not as bad ass as it could be, but not all SEMA builds have $100k budgets. Some do, but most don't.

Toyota TRD should just visit this website and pick some of the members T4R's they are interested in from a standpoint of excellent modifications. They have a wide base of R&D right here!

I'm pretty sure they're not in the dark for R&D. It's always going to be a question of cost, liability, and demand. There's a car show every year for employees to show their cars and partners bring in their cars to show their vehicles too.

That's HQ. Always something somewhat interesting there. Do they still have the RAV4 with the "Let's Go Places" covering the entrance?
As for R&D or interest, they're all over it. There's a T4R fixed up there that they've had for a while and I know for a fact that their guys are always looking at what's going on.

I have a real job. I dont have $100K budget. Most people look at SEMA builds and think EVERYTHING is free. It is NOT. I like the stress of getting the vehicle done in time and meeting expectations. I do not drink or gamble so Vegas is not for me. Thanks for the back up KAGA-RANNA. My feelings are hard to hurt. :bored:

I am doing a front bumper, rear bumper, and sliders from SS Offroad.

Got the Bushwaker fender flairs installed. The rear flairs will have to be cut when I install the SS Offroad rear bumper. The fronts will have to be removed when I removed the front bumper to cut for the SS Offroad bumper too. Everything fits well and was straight forward. I have installed these on other builds. I have 33 inch tires on the 17 inch wheels that came with the 4Runner when I bought it. I will install the SOTA Offroad wheels with The Toyo Open Country AT2 the day before SEMA.

Looking good. I think black bolts in the fender flares would be a better look.
